Time to review

So I've come up with a plan to see if I can lower my losses and widen my gains. I'm going to go through all my past trades between the most recent ones all the way back to January 2010. What I'll be looking for is things like if I can jump out of losers sooner and if I'm jumping out too soon on winners. After my research is complete I'll post the results of my findings.

Also, I don't plan on making any trades this week due to the fact that I'm working every day at my night audit job. Who knows though, if I feel really good I'll make a trade or 2 on my laptop.

Sorry I didn't get around to doing this sooner. I'm working all week, but hopefully I'll be able to do some stuff on my laptop at work.

A new blog for my mushrooms

Since I have been into mushrooms so much lately I have decided to make an additional blog for my mushroom interests. It is located at: http://shmushrooms.blogspot.com/

A new computer and trades for 3-23-11

I had no trades today, but I did get around to ordering the parts for my Dad's new computer. Other then that not much else going on, I am however thinking about starting a mushroom blog for my little mushroom garden. I doubt I'll do any trading tomorrow, though I might trade late tonight. Reguardless I feel pretty good, and hope this positivity continues.

For all those who are curious, here is what I ordered or my dad:

4GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
ASUS DVD-RW drive
Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s
Microsoft Office 2010 Home & Student 3-User
ASUS P8H67-M
Antec 900
ASUS Geforce GT 240 1GB
630W PSU
Intel i3-2100 (3.1GHz)
Windows 7 home 64-bit

Good news, and trades for 3-22-11

Good news, I have decided to keep trading. I really do not want to have to completely start from the ground up in something else, and I really want to make trading work. However, my plan is to take extended breaks from time to time because it looks like I need to. Trying to force the issue by trading each and every day is not the way to go, and it will be nice because I can use the days I skip trading to research stuff or do other things.

On a side note, I got a new laptop (ASUS) and so far I like it. Seems to be built VERY well, and runs pretty fast. I’ve spent yesterday afternoon/evening deleting the bloatware that came with it, and am now in the process of installing ubuntu (Linux) on the extra hard drive space (I’m going to have both windows 7 pro and ubuntu installed side by side). Once all that’s complete I’ll go install my programs I use and take it from there.

I also had a trade today, and it was a gainer. Looking forward to playing with my new laptop and trading some more.

Putting trading on pause

The only trades I had this week are from Tuesday, and after a long talk with my dad came to a decision on my future. Over this weekend I will write down things I would like to take up as a career, with the good and bad points of each choice laid out. Then on either Monday or Tuesday we will discuss said choices and come to a conclusion.

The reason why I’m doing this is because I can’t quit my weekend job, and I can’t continue the trade while working. Trading is hard enough, let alone doing it while your mind is messed up from working nights. However, even though I will likely put trading on the back burner I will still keep my trading blog going. I enjoy sharing useful links and commenting on them so expect that to continue, just not as often as before. I’m expecting to make a post somewhere around once a week.

Lastly, this is not my resignation from trading all together. I will come back at some point in the time, just after I’m able to quit working nights so I’m able to devote my mind to trading.

Graveyard shift still taking it's toll

I’m still stuck in this mental rut from being so used to working nights. Weighing some options none of which I like, but who knows. I plan on discussing it with my dad tomorrow so hopefully I’ll have a plan to turn things around soon.

Some great educational links

Got an awesome link in an e-mail from investopedia explaining how to become a successful forex trader. In the article it also had a link to the top 4 things successful forex trades do. I wanted to share both of these because I found them helpful to myself, so hopefully they will help you in some way.

How To Become A Successful Forex Trader - Most experienced traders will find this to be very basic. However you may find a little nugget of information, which is why I try to make it a habit to read even basic tutorials whenever I see one.

Ending of a rocky week

My total for the week is: -3.64%

Today I had a couple of trades, wish I could have made more but you have to take what the market gives you. Overall I’m happy with today’s performance.

This week was rocky, but I’m glad that I was able to finish out on a positive note. Having my body clock out of whack from working so many nights in a row really screwed me up.

I’m going to leave you with some music to enjoy:

Insomnia strikes

I had one trade today for a loss. After talking with my dad over the phone we came to the realization that my problem has been insomnia. After a week straight of working graveyard shifts last week I haven’t been able to get a normal night’s rest. This is causing me to loose my focus on trading, and hence the bad results.
