Trades for 3-31-09

Sorry the post was late, I had some issues with uploading my trading video to youtube.

No stock trades, and forex was flat (+.23%). I managed the sizing well today, but there were times where I should have taken a break.

Trades for 3-30-09

I did forex for real today and made money. I decided over the weekend to go ahead and trade London, and abnormal hours. I’m glad I did because I had no trades during normal hours. I’m also not trading enough size when I find good trades, but I should correct that tomorrow.

Trades for 3-27-09, and weekly total

For the week I’m +2.17% in forex, and -.87% in stocks. Missed my goal in forex by 6.16%, but this week was a learning process. I think I’ll be trading forex for real on Monday, but it all depends on how I feel then. I also need to look at my trading this week to see if I will trade the London and abnormal hours for real, but that will be done either tomorrow or Sunday. Though, it looks like I will regardless because if you include the 2 I would have been only about 3% shy of my weekly goal.

For today I made 3.12% on that nice run in the EUR/USD during London hours, abnormal hours was a slight loss of -.34%, and normal hours trading was flat (+.10%). I also decided not to do a video today because I only had 2 normal hours trades.

It’s Friday, and for this week’s post I have an article I found interesting (Click here). I also have some photos from today’s ice-fishing :).

Trades for 2-26-09

London hours trading was flat, but I got a decent gain in my abnormal hours trading (+1.62%). My normal hours trading was only +.55% mainly because EUR/USD and most other currencies were stuck in a range. I wish we had broken out because I felt really good about my trading today. However I’m still happy with today overall.

Trades for 3-25-09

My early morning trading (London hours) did good (+1.21%), and my “normal” hours trading was a little crazy but I managed to get a gain. I’m too tired to wait for charts/video to upload so it’s a numbers only day.

Trades for 2-24-09

Man am I tired today, woke up at 3am to see how trading the early morning would go. It went good in the beginning (up 1.20%). However, I got tired and should have stopped and took a nap. I didn’t and ended with a -6.72% in my pre-US market hours trading. I’ve noticed that there tends to be 2 moves in the EUR/USD once during the London market hours, and once during the US market hours. So, what I will try to do is only trade those times and see how it goes.

Trades for 3-23-09

Nice day for the market, I just wish I could say the same for me. I’ve decided that I really need a break from stock trading for awhile. My biggest problem with it is adapting to the changing conditions, and I need to paper-trade it until I prove to myself I can adapt better than I am.

Forex went good this morning (before US market open, and abnormal hours), but as the day went on I got stuck in a rut. I’ve also noticed that I think I’m not being patient enough with my forex trades (shown by making to many trades per day), and not trading big enough size. Tomorrow I plan on waking up sooner so I can try early morning trading in forex.

Sorry, but I didn’t feel like making a video today :P.

Trades for 3-20-09, and weekly total

This is my 200th post! Woohoo!

My totals for the week are -.24% in stocks, and +1.62% in forex. I only made 14% of my goals in forex this week, but after my trading on Tuesday I’m just glad to come out ahead.

Market was flat most of the morning, so no stock trades today. However, my forex trading went good. Even though my before US market open, and abnormal hours trading in forex went well again I still only listed my normal trading hours’ results.

For the Friday post I have a news article on Bernanke’s speech today. I would have posted the video of his speech, but it’s a little over 25 minutes long and you can find it in the article at http://www.cnbc.com/id/29792122.

Trades for 3-19-09

I felt good this morning, so I decided to look at the stock market. Found a short in WFC, and jumped in. I could have had my stopgain lower, but there was a support level on the 10M chart and I wanted to lock in a good gain.

Forex went ok, had a bunch of trades and at one point in time I was up 2.15% but then had a couple of nasty loosers. Overall I’m still happy with today because I still came out ahead, and I’m now no longer stressed like I was at the beginning of the week. One thing I noticed though is that I’m still entering a little too late, and when I do enter I’m not judging my trade size as well as I should be. I think what will help fix that is stepping away from the computer more often than I currently am.

Still no stock trades, but today’s fed decision got me a very nice gain in forex. For most of this morning I was breakeven until the fed move. My early trading (9:30amEST to 11:30amEST) went good also, but it is not listed because I want to keep things consistent.

Trades for 3-17-09

Last night I decided to take a break with stock trading, so no stocks to show you today.

My forex trading was crap because I’ve been stressed out all day and I broke my 1 rule. I should have not traded at all because my rule for forex is to stop trading (or not trade at all) if I don’t feel mentally sharp. I’ve also been trying to trade before the US market open, but today confirmed that it’s not for me. All the forex trades and the total listed in this post are for my “normal” trading hours (about 11amEST to 3pmEST). I may take an overall break from trading, but for now I’m taking it day by day. No trading video today, don’t see a need for it because I broke my rule. However, I do have my forex charts for you (normal hours only).

Trades 3-16-09

Today was weird, even though I lost money I feel like it was a good day. I had 3 real trades today in Discretionary trading, and if I had held on XLF to my original stopgain I would have only been -.66% overall today.

Today was my 1st day with a loss in forex, mainly because I was wrapped up in XLF for so long I started 2 hours later in my forex trading than when I usually start.

Trades for 3-13-09, and weekly total

My total for the week is -3.41% in stocks, and +7.70% in forex. I missed my goal in forex by $47.66 but I’m still happy with it because I could have traded bigger sizes today.

I jumped out of my short in XLF too soon, I should have stuck with it but my confidence isn’t so good right now.

For my Friday post I have what I think is a great interview with John Stewart and Jim Cramer:

I decided to try a real trade in “MA Trading” today, and got burnt. It would have only been a -1.23% loss, but the price shot through my stoploss so I ended up jumping out at a lower price. I’m not sure if I will trade it for real tomorrow or not, all depends on what sets up.

Trades for 3-6-09, and weekly total

I ended the week with -.86% in stocks, and +9.89% in forex. I was able to reach my weekly dollar goal in forex this week so hopefully this will keep up, and I’ll be able to eventually trade it for real.

Today went very good, I entered a ½ sized short in CMA this morning and wound up making +2.48% (would have been +4.96% if I had traded a full size). I almost took profits sooner, but the bar on the 10 minute chart was big and red so I held on. Once it looked like it was bottoming I tightened my stop to $12.50, and was triggered right before it went down to hit what was my stopgain at $12.26. No big deal though, I’m very happy with my performance today.

For the Friday post I have an interesting article (click here), and some video clips for you:
