PAPER-trades for 7-29-08

I decided to continue posting my results even though they are paper-trades.

Today I had 5 PAPER-trades, 1 short, and 4 longs for a total of (+.01%). Trades were:

PCX - Short (+.04%): Trailing stopped out, would have done way better with a set stop-gain (would have been 2% or more made)

PKX – Long (+.25%): Caught mistake which was the fact that the stock had no trends it was mostly flat, but I still would have been ok holding on due to going with the current day’s trend.

GS – Long (-.39%): I should have sold sooner because the stock went flat for too long after my entry.

CME – Long (-.77%): If I was trading real money I would have ended my day before this trade, but I traded this and UBB just to see how things go had I kept trading.

UBB – Long (+.88%): I stopped my gains because it was the end of the day.

Trades for 7-25-08, and weekly total

Well, the best way I can put this week is IT TOTALY SUCKED!!! But on the bright side, I ended the week with a gainer.

Today I had 3 trades, 1 short, and 2 longs for a total of (-1.68%) or (-$490.23). Trades were:

QCOM - Long (-.62%) (-$171.31): I should not have traded this one. I got wrapped up looking at the level 2 qoutes and not the actual chart.

WDC – Short (-1.56%) (-$452.22): Tried my new “10k” strategy on this one, missed the fact that he already had a big run/gap.

JNPR – Long (+.50%) (+$133.30):

My other strategy is doing very well, but I am still undecided when it comes to using it for real. Maybe this is because I took a big loss this week?

Trades for 7-17-08

I signed up for daytradeteam.com today, and so far I like it a lot. I also upgraded to visual trader 4.0 real-time, which is coming in the mail. Looks like I’m going to be busy playing with my new toys this weekend :).

Decided that my stochastic strategy is only good for certain markets (like the 4th of July 08 holiday week), and therefore I am no longer going to trade it.

Today I had 2 trades, 1 long, and 1 short. They were 1 gain, and 1 loss. The total of the day was (+.71%), or (+$204.99). Trades were:

XTO - Short (+1.04%) (+$301.95): I figured that this stock would likely stay in this range/go down, I was wrong and should have held on to it

QLGC – Long (-.87%) (-$265.62): Resistance break trade. Stopped out, did not look at past performance

DO – Short (-1.10%) (-$330.85): This was an unproven strategy (I call it the 10k strategy) I’ve been working on. Goes to show you too ALWAYS prove a strategy before you trade it.

SKY – Long (+.79%) (+$234.63): Stochastic trade

IGT – Long (-.44%) (-$132.26): Stochastic trade

ESLR – Long (-1.24%) (-$367.20): Resistance break trade. I should not have traded this because It was after 3pm EST

CVS – Short (-.19%) (-$56.21): Stochastic trade

NVLS – Short (+.37%) (+$109.53): Stochastic trade. Should have ran a trailing stop, it would have made a lot more money (Cover @ about $19.93)

Trades for 7-8-08

Yesterday I went and looked at my old trades to see if trailing stops would have performed better. Now, when I say “trailing stop” I mean moving my stop loss down/up to the next support/resistance level once the price crosses a higher/lower resistance/support level. The results were very good, so I implemented it today.

All trades were with my new software, trailing stops (except 1), and stochastics.

Today I had 5 trades, of which 4 were longs, and 1 was a short, with 3 losses, and 2 gains. The total of the day was (+.74%), or (+$199.72). Trades were:

DOW – Long (-1.09%) (-$315.41):

AMD – Long (+1.41%) (+$405.41): Didn't use trailing stop

COST – Long (-.31%) (-$91.22):

MTG – Short (-1.56%) (-$454.56): Stopped out, held on the last 300 thinking it would go back down but it didn't and I forgot about it while I was in AMP :(

AMP – Long (+2.29%) (+$655.50): Would have only made .52% without trailing stop, so I’m glad I used it :)
